Apply for the Information and Education Grant

The Clean Vessel Assistance Program's Information and Education Grant provides municipalities and not-for-profit organizations with funding to promote the use, benefits and availability of pumpouts in a localized area, such as a town, embayment, or county. Grants are provided for up to 75% of eligible costs with a maximum award of $5,000 per project. 

Projects may include, but are not limited to:

• Signs
• Workshops
• Written publications/brochures
• Written advertisements
• Websites
• DVD’s
• Promotional incentives
• Radio announcements

How to Apply: Read through the eligibility and requirements and then complete the application at the bottom of this page. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. This application includes basic project information, a project description and the area(s) the project will serve, as well as funding requested by the applicant.

The projects MUST pertain to some aspect of the Clean Vessel Act as it applies to pumpouts. Projects that are creative and still encompass the intent of the grant will be considered.

Eligible costs are any costs associated with the production and delivery of the project.

Examples of eligible costs are:

• Development of content
• Printing
• Labor to produce
• Advertisement space
• Workshop space and materials
• DVD productions
• Distribution of materials
• Website posting costs
• Talent for production of materials

Grants are only available to municipalities and not-for-profit organizations.

All projects must focus on the benefits, use and/or availability of pumpouts.

All materials produced must focus primarily on the topic of pumpouts. It is important to note that the purpose of this grant program is to promote pumpout use and not to promote the organization preparing the materials. Although use of the organization’s symbols, name and personnel are allowed, this should not be the primary focus.

All projects must credit the Clean Vessel Program/Sport Fish Restoration for the source of funding for the project.

The proof of completion for your project is dependent upon the project type. The following are typical submittals required, along with all reimbursement documentation:

• Audio/DVD: Submit a CD or DVD of the final product, along with the accompanying text.
• Classes / Workshops: Submit a copy of the final printed agenda and copies of all printed materials handed out during the workshop, whether they are part of the grant reimbursement or not.
• Printed Materials: Submit three copies of the final product. If this is not possible, email [email protected] for guidance.
• Websites: Submit a copy of the actual printed pages, & the web address of the site.
