Asset Management for Publicly Owned Treatment Works

A proactive approach to managing wastewater treatment facilities
No out-of-pocket costs for municipalities to participate

EFC has partnered with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to develop an Asset Management initiative for municipalities. Asset management is a process that municipalities can use to effectively manage infrastructure investments. It includes defined procedures to inventory, assess, and track infrastructure throughout its lifecycle, improving its longevity and supporting municipal planning. The program expands upon a successful pilot program that was undertaken in 2015.

EFC will hire a firm to act as an advisor to work with up to 10 engineering firms to develop and implement Asset Management Programs for up to 50 volunteer municipalities. Municipalities will work directly with a firm to develop and implement an AMP in accordance with DEC's Asset Management Guide for Publicly Owned Treatment Works. There are no out-of-pocket costs to the municipalities for participating in the program.

Call for communities: Sign up by March 14
To volunteer for the program, municipalities must complete and electronically submit an application by 5 p.m. March 14, 2022. The application, resources and more information are available on DEC's website.
